An optional BaZi + Western Dossier is available after calculating. The combined report keeps the two systems distinct.

How the BaZi Calculator Works

Enter your birth record to calculate the BaZi Four Pillars, Day Master, and Five Elements. Exact birth time and location support the Hour Pillar, historical time-zone handling, and true solar time.

If you do not know your birth time, choose the Unknown option. AstroZen will calculate only the date-based pillars and omit the Hour Pillar and other time-dependent factors rather than guessing them.

Quick calculation overview

What Is a BaZi Calculator?

A BaZi calculator converts birth data into a BaZi chart made of the Four Pillars of Year, Month, Day, and Hour. Each pillar contains a Heavenly Stem and Earthly Branch. Together, these eight characters provide the chart used to examine the Day Master, Five Elements, and their relationships.

What AstroZen Calculates

  • Four Pillars and Day Master
  • Five Element distribution
  • Historical time zone and daylight saving
  • True solar-time correction
  • Date-only mode with Hour Pillar omitted
  • Visible calculation and precision notes

Why True Solar Time Matters

Civil clock time does not always match the Sun's local position. Longitude, historical time-zone rules, daylight saving, and the equation of time can shift the calculation. Near a traditional two-hour boundary, that correction may change the Hour Pillar.

BaZi and Western Astrology

BaZi and Western astrology are calculated as separate traditions. The BaZi result is presented on its own. An optional BaZi + Western Dossier compares their themes only after each chart has been calculated using its own rules.

BaZi Calculator FAQ

Is this BaZi calculator free?

Yes. Your Four Pillars, Day Master, and Five Elements are free to calculate without an email. The optional BaZi + Western Dossier is a separate combined report with additional interpretation and 12-month timing themes.

What birth details are required?

Enter your birth date, city or region, country, and the exact local birth time when known. Traditional BaZi luck-cycle direction also uses the sex selected in the form. A nickname or display name is optional and is used only to label the on-screen result.

Why does true solar time matter in BaZi?

Clock time and local solar time can differ because of longitude, time-zone rules, daylight saving, and the equation of time. Correcting for these factors can change the Hour Pillar near a two-hour boundary.

What is a Day Master?

The Day Master is the Heavenly Stem of the Day Pillar. In BaZi interpretation, it acts as the central reference point for examining the Five Elements and their relationships in the chart.

What does a BaZi chart show?

A BaZi chart shows eight characters arranged across the Year, Month, Day, and Hour Pillars. It provides the calculated structure used to examine the Day Master, Five Elements, and relationships among the stems and branches.

Is BaZi the same as Western astrology?

No. BaZi and Western astrology are distinct systems with different calendars, symbols, and interpretive methods. AstroZen provides separate calculators. An optional combined Dossier compares their themes while keeping each system distinct.

Why can results differ from another BaZi calculator?

Calculators may use different time-zone databases, daylight-saving rules, solar-time corrections, calendar boundaries, or pillar conventions. AstroZen shows verified calculation details so you can review the inputs and methods used.

Does this calculation replace professional advice?

No. AstroZen is designed for personal reflection and entertainment. It should not replace medical, legal, financial, mental-health, or other professional advice.
