Clock-change days need extra care
Most local birth times map to one UTC instant, but daylight-saving transitions create edge cases. A spring-forward interval can contain local clock times that never occurred, while a fall-back interval can repeat the same clock time twice. Historical records may also follow regional exceptions that modern summaries omit.
- For a repeated fall-back time, determine whether the record refers to the first or second occurrence if possible.
- For a missing spring-forward time, verify the record and the jurisdiction's exact transition rule.
- For older births, avoid calculators that reuse the location's current UTC offset.

How to tell whether DST changed the result
Compare the UTC instant shown or implied by each calculator. If the two instants are exactly one hour apart while the local birth entry is identical, the sites probably applied different civil-time rules or one input was manually adjusted. Match the IANA zone before investigating house systems or interpretation.
Next compare the exact Ascendant degrees. A sign difference is the visible symptom; the UTC mismatch is the calculation issue that needs to be resolved.
