Start with the input, not the interpretation

Before comparing Day Master labels or Five Element advice, verify that both calculators used the same local date, time precision, sex input where required, city, coordinates, time zone, and calendar convention. A mismatch here propagates through the entire chart.

The five most common causes

Most visible differences come from place resolution, historical civil time, true-solar-time policy, solar-term or day-boundary rules, and treatment of an unknown birth time. Translation and display order can create apparent differences even when the underlying stems and branches match.

Difference, defect, or convention?

A defect means the software fails its own declared rule or reproducible reference case. A convention difference means two systems openly follow different schools. An unreviewable result hides the rule, preventing either conclusion.

  • Defect: the same version gives inconsistent output for the same input.
  • Convention: civil time versus apparent solar time is stated and consistently applied.
  • Data problem: the city or historical offset is wrong.
  • Presentation issue: English labels differ while the Chinese characters match.

Screenshot both input summaries and copy the intermediate calculation details. Compare adjusted local time first, then Year, Month, Day, and Hour in order. The first field that diverges usually identifies the responsible rule.

Do not choose the chart whose interpretation feels more flattering. That creates a circular test in which prose is allowed to select the data that generated it.

Which BaZi calculator is the most accurate?

No single label proves accuracy. Prefer a calculator that identifies its location and time sources, states boundary conventions, exposes intermediate values, and publishes reproducible tests.

Why is my Day Master different on two sites?

A different Day Master means the Day Pillar differs. Check UTC conversion, adjusted date, day-boundary convention, and whether solar correction crossed midnight or late Zi.

Can language translation cause a false disagreement?

Yes. Compare the original Heavenly Stem and Earthly Branch characters before relying on translated element or animal labels.
