AstroZen BaZi Calculation Rules and Limits

Method disclosure is part of the product. This page records what the current engine calculates, what is a configurable tradition, and what the result does not claim.

Evidence path

Bounded reading

At a glance

Three facts to keep.

  1. 01Deterministic chart data is calculated before AI-assisted interpretation.
  2. 02BaZi and Western astrology run as separate calculation systems.
  3. 03Unknown time removes dependent factors rather than substituting noon.

01

Current calculation pipeline

AstroZen resolves the place, interprets the historical local time, calculates a location-aware solar-time correction, constructs the Four Pillars through a deterministic calendar library, derives relational fields, and only then prepares evidence for interpretation.

  • Required: birth date and a resolvable place.
  • Optional but material: exact local birth time and minute.
  • Recorded: coordinates, IANA zone, UTC offset, adjusted time, and limitations.
  • Separated: calculated fields, traditional labels, and AI-assisted prose.

02

Published rule table

The current engine uses solar-term calendar operations for Four Pillars, a longitude-plus-equation-of-time correction, weighted hidden stems for element statistics, and seasonal evidence for balance analysis. These implementation choices are versioned and testable.

LayerCurrent rule
Civil timeHistorical IANA zone and date-aware offset
Solar timeLongitude vs standard meridian + equation of time
PillarsDeterministic solar-term calendar library
Hidden stemsDisplayed individually; weighted 0.6 / 0.3 / 0.1 in raw counts
BalanceSeasonal evidence with confidence and limitations
Unknown timeHour-dependent fields omitted

03

Interpretive boundaries

BaZi is a traditional symbolic system, not a scientifically validated diagnostic or predictive method. AstroZen's calculations can be internally tested; the symbolic meaning assigned to those values is interpretive and should be presented as reflection rather than fact.

  • No guaranteed personality, health, wealth, relationship, or future outcome claims.
  • No forced equivalence between Five Elements and Western elements.
  • No invented hour, Ascendant, house, or fast-moving placement when time is unknown.
  • No use as a substitute for professional medical, legal, financial, or mental-health advice.

04

Versioning and reproducibility

A useful method page must change when the engine changes. AstroZen pairs source-controlled tests with a dated public dataset and records calculation notes in the report context. Readers can inspect the rule without needing access to a customer's private record.

Method note: The Accuracy Lab dataset is intentionally small. It demonstrates high-risk boundaries and output contracts; it is not a complete validation corpus for every historical jurisdiction.

Questions people ask

FAQ

Does AstroZen use AI to calculate the Four Pillars?

No. Deterministic code calculates chart values. AI-assisted generation interprets a signed calculation context after those values exist.

What happens when birth time is unknown?

AstroZen switches to date-only mode and omits the Hour Pillar and other time-dependent factors. It does not silently use noon.

Are AstroZen's interpretations scientifically proven?

No. The product is for entertainment and personal reflection. Calculation reproducibility does not establish scientific predictive validity for astrology or BaZi.
